Megan Knorpp Photography: Photography Classes

I love to teach - it's partly why I homeschool and definitely why I get so excited when I get asked to teach at church.  Our workshop is awesome and I love it - but I also know there is a need for some more personal - one on one - kind of training.  So, I've decided to start giving photography lessons*.  These lessons would be open for all sorts of folks.  For teens just getting excited about photography, moms who want to take better photos of their kids, the budding professional photographer, or Grandma who has a great camera but no idea how to work it!

For those who want to know ALL the basics of digital photography there would be a three week session of 1.5 hour long courses.  That would be the Starter Package.  There are others though who would want classes that are more specific - those classes would basically be an hour and a half on any range of topics.   Classes will be held in the evenings on a weekly basis at either my home or a predetermined location(for when we're shooting). 

 

Starter Package - (3) 90 minute lessons, one on one with Megan.  Covering basic camera function,  how to get your images to look like the pros, and what to do with your photos after you take them(i.e. photoshop, prints & web ready images).   

Additional classes can be added to suit the students needs - i.e. Photo-blogging, Child/Family photography, Starting a Photography Business, Photojournalism, Wedding Photography, .  These classes start at 90 minutes but may need to be longer depending on the student's request.

Each 90 minute class would be $60 - the starter package would be a little more bang for your buck at $150.    Enrollment would be pretty limited so if you're really anxious to do this soon - get on it and call me!  For more information on how to enroll, contact me and we'll get you all set up! 


*A digital SLR camera is required. 

Sarah & Tyler's Wedding

I love taking pictures of super happy people - especially super happy people in love so this wedding was wonderful.  Sarah is a photographer in Boise and she's full of spunk.  It was really fun to work with her and her understanding of light and posing.   After the temple we met up later in the evening for that perfect hour of light before the sun goes down - it made for some beautiful photography.

Our Second Honeymoon in the most beautiful place on earth.

After our trip to McCall, Mike flew back up so he and I could leave the kids with his parents and take a trip together - a second honeymoon - a "we've been married for ten years and want a weekend without the kids" trip.  And it was perfect.  Stanley, Idaho is the home of the Sawtooth Mountains and it's beauty was mind blowing - and this is coming from someone who lives at the foot of some of the prettiest mountains around.  I wish my pictures did it ANY justice but they just don't.  Some day you've got to drive up and see those mountains yourself - you'll thank me.

This lake was so SO amazing - the water was really so clear - it looked like the Bahamas - only it didn't feel like it - it was a chilly 52 degrees.  Even with the cold, lake swimming is still my favorite thing in the world.   We canoed, we sun-bathed, we photographed.  It was heaven.

One night we ventured out to some hot springs a waitress at our RV park told us about - they were hidden just below the road - on the Salmon river.  Someone put an industrial pot of some sort there - and a pipe was coming right out of the side of the mountain with super hot spring water in it.  You could move the pipe over the tub to make it hotter or use a bucket to add river water to cool it down.  It was so amazing.  And then of course we couldn't resist dipping into the freezing river water and back into the hot...

And to finish of the trip more perfectly than anything else could - we went to the James Taylor/Carole King concert in Sun Valley.  Mike's second cousin, Raymond, called us several months ago and said he had some extra tickets and asked if we could make it.  It was such an amazing offer we designed this trip around it.  Not only was the concert amazing but if Raymond hadn't offered I'm sure we wouldn't have ever taken a trip along at all.  So thanks Raymond - we seriously owe you big time!  The venue said no camera's of any kind and I quickly realized once I got there that I was the only one who followed that rule... it killed me not to have my camera there but luckily Mike's phone came through...

Anyhow, in the end, GO TO STANLEY!  Or don't.   Maybe I'd like to keep it an amazing secret place just for me and my family.

McCall of the Wild...

After the Fourth Mike had to head back to Utah for work while the rest of the family headed up to McCall for the week.  McCall is a beautiful mountain town two hours north of Boise. It's where Mike and I honeymooned and where his family gathers almost every year for a family reunion.  It was a beautiful week with cool weather and lots of rest and relaxation.  But we sure missed Mike.

While we were there everyone got together for a little letterboxing.  Ever heard of it?  Letterboxing is essentially hiking to hidden boxes according to a set of clues you find online.  The box contains a stamp and a book.  You bring along a stamp for your family and stamp it and your name and the date in the book from the box - and use their stamp to put in your own book.  It's really fun and there are letterboxing sites all over the world.

While in McCall we mostly hung out - playing games, watching movies, and reading but the main attraction is Lake Payette... One evening we went late in the afternoon when everyone else had cleared out.  While everyone took turns on the boat we watched the sunset, challenged each other to swimming contests, and built sand castles - it was dreamy.  I love swimming in cold lakes and then sitting on warm sand with a sweat shirt over my swimsuit.  It really doesn't get much better than that.

In the end, the trip wouldn't have been possible if I didn't have such awesome in-laws. Not having Mike on a trip is hard but everyone was always so helpful and gracious. Especially Jodi, whose husband also had to get back to work. We were like sister wives...  Thanks everyone!

God Bless America - or How I Spent My Independence Day

I really don't know if the Fourth of July could be much more American than it is at my in-laws house in Boise, Idaho.  We usually get up early and head over to the church pancake breakfast - listening to a great program on freedom while eating way too many pancakes.  Once we head home the rest of the day is spent decorating bikes for their street's parade, swimming, jumping on the trampoline(crack the egg, anyone?), as well as all sorts of general fun.  In the evening their street does their very own parade - with decorated bikes, cars, motorcycles, and this year we even had a police car!  It's really a dream come true for the boys.  Afterwards we start with our sparklers and smaller fireworks - though the true show is across the street.  Mike's childhood friend, Evan Green, puts on THE best pyrotechnic show you've ever seen.  He dresses from head to toe in black - drenches himself with water - turns on some sweet tunes - and dances with firework nun-chucks.  It rocks.  Every year he becomes my kid's hero all over again.  So, that was a lot of talk... how about some pictures?
